We've stayed in close to home today. We've had a rough two weeks-weather wise and today is no different. Several counties in IN have been declared emergency disasters. Two interstates have portions closed due to flooding, etc. Many people today are being evacuated from their flooded homes by boat. Very scary scenes on TV today.

We've been busy getting ready for Ryleigh to arrive. Our birth mom can go any day now. We've been packing our suitcase, etc. So exciting!!

Tomorrow after church we're going to a family dinner near Delphi, IN.

We moved our living room furniture around today. That's the first time we've moved it since we've lived here...Dec. 2005! Growing up, my mom moved the furniture around every month I think and I've just not been one to want to move things around too much. But, so far we like the new lay out! =)

Weather, spring, baby & more!

Hello everyone! Thought I'd better get busy and do some updating around here! lol

It's been a very busy time...May flew by...with baby showers and Dr's appointments (there were 15 different appointments in May alone for a variety of things!) and so on.

We've been having terrible weather. Tuesday night I was as scared as I've ever been! We had terrible T-storms, tornado warnings, etc. We were up until about 4 AM Wednesday. We have serious flooding around here. Just a few miles south of us, a bridge collapsed and 3 or 4 cars & trucks went off into the water. One woman died. So tragic. I went to town today and so many roads were closed, farm fields, soccer and baseball fields totally under water. Not too far south, a tornado did serious damage. In Indy on Friday, in just a 2.5 mile swath, there was $29 million in damages from a tornado. Serious damage in my hometown last night too...it's about 2.5 hours southwest. Mom said there was no one going in or going out of the town today.

There's just so much storm devastation all around us. The worst damage we've had is a leak in our covered front porch and a torn awning on the RV. We have lots of flood debris to pick up, but we're very thankful nothing worse was done.

One thing I love about spring is the animals. Just in the past 3 days, I've seen 7 deer, 20+ bunnies, raccoons galore, chipmunks, baby squirrels, etc. For exercise, I walked down to the end of our driveway this evening and there was a deer standing down there, across the road. We had a face-off for a full 5+ minutes and it was amazing. The deer never even twitched its tail!!

The bunnies are out by the dozen in our yard. We got such a laugh watching a family of 4 baby bunnies running in a perfect circle in our back yard...they were surely chasing the cotton tail directly in front of them!

My FIL is still undergoing chemo. He's doing really well, in my opinion. The place under his arm where he has surgery recently isn't healing so well so he couldn't get the stitches out yesterday. Maybe soon. Otherwise, he is plugging along. =) He is so anxious for the arrival of baby Ryleigh that he can't hardly stand it. Neither can I! lol

We had 2 earthquakes last month. The first one I slept through. The second I was sitting on the couch and it starting moving! It was such a weird feeling!! That first one was a 5.1 and the second a 4.6, I believe. Freaky!

On Memorial Day, we traded my Grand Prix GT in on a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer XLT. It rocks!! lol All leather interior, heated seats, 2 radios, 6 CD changer, etc. It's metallic black. When we got in it, it had 8 miles on it! Fred calls it "Ryleigh's Ride" because her stroller wouldn't fit in my car trunk so we needed something bigger. I'll post pix soon.

Tomorrow I'm off to the DR with our birth mom again. We're going every week now. Woohoo!!

Fred

Fred went back to the surgeon today. Fred is doing great! He’s gained back 20 pounds and has good color again! He has to have a follow-up colonoscopy soon and then another trip back to the surgeon the end of June to review the colonoscopy. He's working full-time and doing yard work and things here at home. Praise the Lord!
It is SO cold up here. We looked at trucks yesterday and had to wear coats. I needed a hat but didn't have one so I ended up sitting in the car. It's in the 50's but the stiff wind makes it even colder.

Tuesday

This coming Tuesday is going to be a busy day!

While I am in Muncie with our birth mom, Fred is taking off work to go to Indy. His dad is having surgery.

His dad has had a huge boil-type thing under his right arm. When we went for chemo this week, the oncologist wouldn't do chemo after seeing the place under his arm and instead sent him to a surgeon. The surgeon said the good news is that this "thing" (can't remember the proper name of it) isn't in his lymph nodes (yet) but the bad news is that is absolutely has to come off as quickly as possible. So, surgery is in 4 days. He can't even have chemo until it's off. The DR would like to be able to use local anesthetic, but the "thing" is too deep.

So, Fred is going there while I go to the DR and lawyer with our birth mom.

The chemo is working for my FIL's prostate cancer, PTL! It justs wipes out so many other things though. But, he's in good spirits and is totally focused on baby Ryleigh! =)

Weird Stuff

Ever have a time in your life when a bunch of weird stuff just happens? I seem to be in that zone!

I called my mom today and she didn't even know who I was and when I told her it was her daughter, she asked which one. There's only 2 of us and we sound nothing alike, so that was weird.

Then, earlier today, an acquaintance went to my husband's pharmacy and told his boss that we were moving away to Indianapolis. Huh?????

Last week, in a grocery store parking lot, Fred was pulling out and this lady in a mini-van laid on her horn for a full 60 seconds and gave us the finger the whole time. I rolled down my window and yelled, "We're sorry!" and "God Bless you" and she swerved around and pulled up to my side of the car and screamed "Why the h*ll are you staring at me you f***ing *itch???? You're the f****ing idiot that pulled in my way you f**** *itch." and this lady had to be at least 35-40!!! She looked like a typical soccer mom in a mini van! I was trying to yell over her screaming to say "I'm sorry if we pulled in front of you" but she wouldn't stop screaming.
It really shook us up. I can remember a day back-when that I would have returned the hand signel or got out of the car for a fight. But, as she peeled away in her mini-van, I looked at my totally shook-up hubby and said, "You know, that lady has to have a miserable, sad life to be so angry" and so we prayed for her! We're trusting God to bring that lady some peace and some healing in exchange for her anger at the world. Praying helped to settle our blood pressure too! lol

Brrr!

It's freezing cold! And to think we had the A/C on last week! Now we've got the furnace back on! lol
We're supposed to get snow flurries here tonight and/or "ice pellets" as the radio DJ called it.
We didn't have the furnace on last night and when we got up this morning, the temp in the house was 62*!
We spent the weekend near Dayton Ohio (Troy) with Fred's dad and his wife and her grandson Jordan, who will be heading back to Russia for the summer on May 6. It was so nice to get away and we had wonderful weather. Jordan's girlfriend lives in Troy, so we had dinner at her place Satuday and then went to church with her on Sunday. We had a really good time!
Fred is still working on 4 hours a day, which is plenty right now. Bless his heart.
We had to go get fingerprinted today for the adoption. Our social worker also started the FBI, CPS and local police background checks.
So, we're moving right along. =)
