Brrr!

It's freezing cold! And to think we had the A/C on last week! Now we've got the furnace back on! lol
We're supposed to get snow flurries here tonight and/or "ice pellets" as the radio DJ called it.
We didn't have the furnace on last night and when we got up this morning, the temp in the house was 62*!
We spent the weekend near Dayton Ohio (Troy) with Fred's dad and his wife and her grandson Jordan, who will be heading back to Russia for the summer on May 6. It was so nice to get away and we had wonderful weather. Jordan's girlfriend lives in Troy, so we had dinner at her place Satuday and then went to church with her on Sunday. We had a really good time!
Fred is still working on 4 hours a day, which is plenty right now. Bless his heart.
We had to go get fingerprinted today for the adoption. Our social worker also started the FBI, CPS and local police background checks.
So, we're moving right along. =)

Latest Craftiness

My latest craft projects were gifts for some friends, Dana and Nate Jenkins, who just adopted a little boy, Jared.

Here's the frame I made for him

Then, I made a set of birthday thank you cards for Dana to use, as Jared just had a birthday! They all featured the same pic of him in his red wagon. I made a tin holder for the cards.

Isn't he a cutie!?

Progress

Fred went back to work yesterday!! He got to work 4 hours yesterday and 4 hours today. He'll get to go full-time on May 1. He did well but was wiped-out when he got home yesterday. I'm so thankful he's better! PTL!

I mowed this week for the first time this season. I was so happy, riding around on my 6-foot-deck Grasshopper zero-turn mower!! Yeehaw!! LOL

We're going to Dayton Ohio for the weekend with Fred's dad and step-mom and her grandson Jordan. Jordan is getting ready to go back to Russia for the summer and his girlfriend Lindsay lives in Dayton. We are all going to stay at a motel, do some shopping, go to church with Lindsay and her family, etc. Just wanted to get away. =)

Updates...

My hubby drove today for the first time...he drove about 5 miles! YAY! That's a big improvement!
We go back to the surgeon tomorrow. Hopefully, he'll be released to go back to work soon. He's feeling well enough that he's starting to get antsy.
Our adoption home study begins this Friday! We're very nervous! Not sure what to expect, etc.
My spring flowers are starting to come up and I have one bloom! YAY! I'm SO ready for spring!

Sunset

I love this photo of Summit Lake State Park. We live about 1/2 mile from the western boundary of the park. Very peaceful.

Saturday Evening

We've finally had a day without rain!! PTL!
Fred got out of the house today and we went to Cracker Barrel for a late lunch. He seemed to enjoy getting out but also was happy to get back home to his recliner! lol
He goes to our family DR on Monday. They did some sort of special blood panel to see what, if any could be an underlying cause of all his illnesses...they are looking for something genetic, etc.
Then, Tuesday, I go to the DR with our birth mom. YAY! lol

DR's verdict

We went back to the surgeon yesterday for another check-up for Fred.
We thought maybe Fred might go back to work in a week or so.
DR said he'd see us in 2 weeks and then we might talk about Fred going back to work! Wow.
I am praying hard that we can go to church this weekend! We've only gone once since February! The ride is hard for Fred.
Please....get me out of the house! LOL
One way I know he is starting to get better...he put his own socks on himself yesterday for the first time since February. Hallelujah! lol

April

Who knew on February 29, when we went to the ER that my hubby wouldn't work a day in March and who knows about April? Amazing.
He is still recovering, slowly. The specialist reassured us last week that Fred is on track and that he'd had 5 specialists working on him in the hospital...an Intensivist, a Cardiologist, an Infectious Disease DR, a Gastrointerologist and something else and that you don't get "that" type of care unless you're very sick.
So, who knows when he'll go back to work. He's been put on short-term disability. We go back to the surgeon tomorrow for a check on progress, etc. Hope we get good news!
It's freezing cold here. Tonight or one night this week it's going ot be 27*, I heard on the news. I am so sick of winter! My mom who lives a couple hours south of us in Bloomington told me today that the grass is greening up and flowers are in bloom. I have 3 words...That's Not Fair! LOL
Yesterday was chemo day for my FIL, so I spent the day in Indy with him and my step-MIL. My FIL always sleeps through chemo, so he told us "girls" to go eat or something! LOL So, he didn't have to tell us twice! We went to a couple of shops then had lunch at Applebee's before taking him some food. He was ready to go when we got back to the Oncology Center. He got the news a couple weeks ago that the chemo is working and his PSA level had dropped, so praise the Lord for that!
Here's to a happy April for everyone! =)
